In October 1921, a JOINT representative from United States came to Belarus with an inspection of Jewish life, because it was a very difficult time when Jewish institutions tried to survive. When he was meeting and talking to people in various towns and shtetls of Belarus, some of them requested to find their relative in America so they can immigrate there too. Upon return to the US, the representative produced a report of his inspection where he indicated the names and addresses of people in Belarus who were trying to find their US relatives.

Does this list include the town of Shereshov? That is one of my ancestral towns on my father’s mother’s side.

Is this all of the JEWISH residents in those locations (but not other locations, or not non-Jewish residents)? Or is this only SOME of the Jewish residents in those places? Or only SOME of the locations? Thanks –

JOINT list was made only for Jewish residents. We listed all towns and shtetls that were mentioned in it, but weren’t able to list all names. We still have about 40 names left, and all of them from Minsk.

Does your list include The shtetl of Lida, or Lida district? Have been researching for relatives of Zelig Kalmanowich, including his first wife Leah Larinski and his first child (daughter).
